This week in training: the 20 miler
Got back from a 20 miler just over two hours ago. I'm going to be pretty sore tomorrow as I already have some good leg pain. The first 15 miles went really well but it was real effort to get thru the final five. It's all good training! I had a huge urge to turn the run into a 15 miler but after hearing all the press about Lance Armstrong being unprepared for the NYC Marathon (his longest run was something like a 13 miler) I made the choice to stick with it.
While picking up some gels this week, I thought I'd try out the PowerGel 'Chocolate' flavour on this run. While I actually didn't mind the taste, I will never use this gel again. It was just to runny and sticky; I got it all over myself while consuming it and this stuff doesn't just wipe off. I think I will just stick to the PowerGel 'Vanilla' or 'Plain' floavours.
Due to the Thanksgiving long weekend, most of my miles were run from home rather than at work (running at work tends to be the norm these days). I did cancel a fifth run as haven't had many quality sleeps this week due to both my boys being sick (see one of my earlier posts this week for a little bit more info). Here were my runs for the week:
- Tuesday - 5.5 miles
- Thursday - 6 miles
- Friday - 7 miles
- Sunday - 20 miles
- Total - 38 miles
Only 42 days left until the Disney Marathon!

Good Job!
Lance was clearly not ready for the Mary...it showed in his times. You are really going to enjoy your Marathon!!!
Best Wishes!!!
