View from the house
The view from our new townhouse is great. Our property back onto a large open field bordered at the far end by a wooded ravine. The open field will eventually have a bike path on it, possibly a road extension, but luckily no more development. The woods are home to lots of birds so there is a local group trying to protect the area as a bird sanctuary and thus stop the road project.
One late evening this week, I was fortunate to look out the back window and see a field full of blinking fireflies. After watching the Curious George movie a number of times recently it was very cool to see such as scene... live. Talking to a neighbour, the firefly phenomenon only lasts a few weeks around here so I've taken the time to watching them glow each night.
Yesterday morning, while eating breakfast and staring out our back window, we were treated to the frolicking of three young deer out in the field.
We have also been treated to wild turkeys in the field.
The only bad view out the back window is our lawn. The previous owners had a large female dog that neutralized large patches of grass. We spent some time the other evening digging up the dead sod and making some initial attempts to revitalize the lawn.
