Show us what the weekend has in store for you.
Finally some great news for Canada! Now Canadians can pay out their $1.99Cdn to Apple to download "The Rick Mercer Report" (or just go to the CBC website and watch it's streamed version).
Another late post...
I’m still up in Kingston running in the bitter cold (as compared to running in Florida). The wind continues to make the runs much harder and further reduce the temperature. I logged 33 miles this week.
I’ve previously remarked how much I enjoy running by other
runners but I realized this week that there is something that bugs me slightly
about the fellow runners in Kingston…
very few of them will acknowledge other runners on the road. No waves, no nods, nor even a “good
morning”. Maybe I expect too much but I
find it just polite to acknowledge other runners while out on the roads.
Tue, 27 Nov – Six miles in wet conditions although not too many puddles.
Wed, 28 Nov – This was a cold run (18°F) that took me through my old university campus for five miles.
Fri, 30 Nov – I really found myself fighting the wind on the first half of this seven mile run through town.
Sat, 1 Dec – 15 miles on a very very cold Saturday morning. It was 10°F before the wind chill and -4°F with. Since the water within my water bottle never stands still, I have not experienced any freezing problems although on this run the water bottle nib froze up. This made it difficult to get any hydration without having to stop and thaw the bottle nib. This was especially frustrating when I was running past a lot full of ice making machines. The route was pretty good and took me by a small industrial chimney stack emblazoned with a large yellow “support the troops” ribbon. I find it refreshing that Canadians have really begun supporting the military over the past four years its just too bad that it took the death of soldiers to ignite the process.
I met with some old friends of mine on Saturday evening and enjoyed a few libations while catching up. I overdid it a bit and really was not up to going for another long run on Sunday.
Now I can watch Rick Mercer on YouTube. This is awesome! We just need to see if we can get the Red Green Show on YouTube now.
It's nice to see that at least one technology company hasn't forgotten about Canada.
The best part about the release date is that not only will I be up in Canada to purchase it, I will be at the Hip-Nexus: Kingston, Ontario. The town where the Hip started from and where every University student is a Hip fan. Who knows, maybe they will do one of their famous un-announced concerts at one of the local bars. I boy can dream can't he?
For those that know nothing about the Tragically Hip (refered to by fans as simply "the Hip" or "TTH") here are bunch of links that may help introduce you to them. Also check out my favourite Hip tune embedded in this post and the video of one of their tunes on the new album.
